This blog is dedicated to our English II class. On it, I (Ms.Montalbano) will post reflection questions related to the literature or themes we are discussing.
Your job is to post a reply either to my comments or those of your classmates. Your comments should be well-thought and reflective of the topic at hand. They should be respectful and beneficial to the overall discussion.
There is no length-limit. I expect that you will take as long as you need to say what you need to say in order to effectively make your point. Some will be short and some will be long. I will grade you on the quality of your comments.
Each discussion topic will have a number of total possible points assigned to it. You will have to post enough to total 50 points for the remaining nine weeks. My advice to you is to print your post either before you have posted or after it appears on the sight. This will serve as your reciept, should there be conflict over whether or not you posted enough.
Responses to my posts are worth the total possible points assiocated with the discussion topic.
Responses to your classmates posts will be worth a possible of total of five points.
Let me remind you that your posts will be viewable by anyone surfing the web. This means that you are completing the Writing Process by posting – you are publishing! Consider that when you compose your response. Are you proud of your response? Is it something you would claim publicly? Does it use proper conventions, spelling and grammar? Do you have a message that is worth stating? OR, are you simply writing what you need to write to complete the assignment? Did you simply steal someone else’s thoughts? It will be obvious how much effort you put into this assignment and, your grade will reflect your work. Any cheating or inappropriate comments will be dealt with via Covington High’s regular disciplinary procedures.
If you have any questions, email me at April.Montalbano@stpsb.org or you can talk to me about it before or after school.
Happy Writing!
